About

West Coast Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association

The West Coast Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association (WCISOA) was founded in 1961 to provide trained and certified referees to serve the collegiate game.

Overview

WCISOA is one of the charter members that formed the National Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association in 1964. This Chapter of NISOA-> serves all of Northern California.

Current Membership

WCISOA has a current membership of over 175 active referees. WCISOA provides services to NCAA Division 1, Division 2, Division 3, NAIA schools, and Community Colleges in Northern California. WCISOA provides services for over 1100 collegiate games annually, while servicing over 100 programs. The programs covered range from Humboldt State, in Arcata, down to UC Monterey, in Monterey County, eastward to Stanislaus State, in Turlock, and northward into the San Joaquin and Sacramento Valley.

Setting a Standard

Soccer is the fasting growing collegiate sport. Collegiate soccer is a fast and demanding game that requires the best of referees. Of all chapters of NISOA, the WCISOA has the highest number of former and active FIFA panel members on its roster, with six current and retired FIFA members actively doing games. It also has a significant number of referees who officiate in the MLS. Approximately 80% of its members are USSF State referees.

Our Future

WCISOA is always looking for interested, committed, and experienced referees and assessors. Every year we seek to add 20 to 30 new members to our association. New members need to be physically fit and readily available for games. The expectation is that prospective members should, minimally, be officiating competitive under-19 games on a regular basis, have three years experience at the high school varsity level, or actively officiating at the senior amateur level.
